I don't really know where to begin. The process of becoming a CHP Cadet Wife started back in January. I had no idea it would go so fast. It typically takes at least a year from application to Academy start. Well, as of September 9, 2013, it would have been a little over eight months. Out of nearly 22,000 applications, B gets in. I was so proud and excited for him to get that email.
I scoured the internet for other CHP Academy wives to see what 27 weeks would be like. I read My Crazy & Blessed Life and Peasant Living ~ a cottage industry from start to finish. Thank you ladies for providing such insight into the lives of an Academy wife.
I had been through two academies already. The first one was definitely the easiest, I was busy planning our wedding. The second one wasn't too bad, but I did have an 18 month old and I was pregnant. This third academy, (hopefully the very last one ) scares me a bit. #1 starts elementary school tomorrow and #2 is smack dab in the middle of her terrible twos. I'll essentially be a single parent for nearly six months. I'm so grateful to have such a supportive group of people around us. So many people have already offered to pick up #1 and #2 if I get in a bind. Luckily, my family lives within 30 minutes of us and can be my emergency backup as well.
Like Cara and Nicole did, I want to be able to help an Academy Wife in this crazy journey they call the CHP.
